More Than Just Winning Races

Instilling Healthy Habits, Promoting Active Lifestyles

Memphis Youth Athletics began in 2014 with the help of Marty Sonnenfeldt and Knoxville Youth Athletics.

From the start, our focus was to develop the sport of cross country and track in the Memphis and larger Mid-South area. But that wasn’t all.

Our mission is to encourage and teach kids of all abilities how to take their first steps toward a healthy, active lifestyle while providing the foundation for young Memphis athletes to further their competitive aspirations in track & field, cross country, and beyond.

“Memphis Youth Athletics provides a structure in a safe environment for kids to run, have fun, and just be kids again.”

–Nick Dwyer, Executive Director
Our Mission

Forging a Better Future for Memphis Youth

By managing, supporting, and funding area youth track & field, cross country, and running programs, Memphis Youth Athletics sets out to provide opportunities for children to enhance their personal fitness and athletic aspirations.

We do this by providing year-round instructional programs and fun, competitive events that help develop the basic motor skills — running, jumping, and throwing — that are foundational for a kid’s development in any sports or fitness activity.

Our Story

Every story has a why. Ours is giving kids in Memphis the mentality to keep moving — and keep going.
